It feels tingly in my hands and in my arms.
My tummy feels hollow and my front teeth are clenched.
My thighs feel warm.
My calves are buzzing and my breathing is shallow.
I am aware of my heart beating.
I notice my tummy no longer feels hollow.
My upper arms are tingling, my calves are warm and my shins feel heavy.
My breathing is slowing.
My face feels warm.
This is anxiety.
Anxiety is moving all around my body.
It dissipates and then returns.
It doesn’t feel great.
At times it feels downright awful.
And it’s always okay.
I am always okay.
My brain is simply running through the day's events, the plans in the week, the to-do’s and all the things to come.
It’s questioning and wondering and thinking.
This is anxiety.
It’s okay to feel anxious.
Nothing has gone wrong.
“But you shouldn’t feel this way. You’ve gotta get rid of it.”
I hear you brain. I know you’re looking out for me.
But I promise you I am okay.
I am feeling anxious and that’s okay.
Anxiety is never a problem. And it never needs to be fixed.
And neither do I.

We can do this. We can do anything.

Anxiety feels like it’s a problem. A huge problem. And it can completely interfere with our ability to live our lives the way we want to.
It holds us back, we hide from things, we cancel and dread and worry. And it’s hard. Really hard.
We don’t go after the things we really want because we are scared.
We don’t want to fail, we don’t want to look stupid. We don’t want people to not like us.
So we stay ‘safe’ in the arms of anxiety and we miss out on our life.
